On the occasion of International Women’s Day, an extraordinary event unfolded in the cultural city of Dombivli where 9,111 women came together to perform Lezim, creating a spectacular Guinness World Record and making history for Maharashtra and India.

From the inspiring legacy of Rajmata Jijau, women have always played a crucial role in shaping the social, cultural, and moral fabric of Maharashtra. The respect and honor given to women are deeply rooted in the traditions of this land. This powerful tradition was beautifully reflected during the grand cultural event held at the Late H.B.P. Sant Sawalaram Maharaj Mhatre Sports Complex in Dombivli.
On this historic day, thousands of women and girls from Kalyan–Dombivli gathered together with unmatched enthusiasm and determination. Their synchronized performance of Lezim, a traditional Maharashtrian cultural sport and dance form, demonstrated not only discipline and unity but also the immense strength of collective womanhood.



9,111 Women Break the Previous World Record
Prior to this event, the world record for the largest simultaneous Lezim performance was held by participants from Sangli. However, the determined women of Dombivli set a new benchmark by breaking the previous record and establishing a new Guinness World Record with the participation of 9,111 women performing Lezim together.
The moment was not just about breaking a record—it was a symbol of unity, empowerment, and cultural pride. The achievement has officially been recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records, bringing immense pride to the people of Dombivli and the entire Kalyan-Dombivli region.

The historic event was organized jointly by Dombivlikar Ek Sanskritik Parivar and the Kalyan Taluka Physical Education Committee. Their vision was to celebrate women’s empowerment while preserving and promoting the traditional cultural art of Lezim.
